Pale Teak Wood Merchant's Table with secret side door opening for keeping money. Legs are painted red in the traditional style from Patan, Gujarat. Merchant's would sit on these tables to conduct business in a similar way to sitting at a desk. Only they would sit 'on' the table not on a chair. The table dates from late 19th century.
